OUR MISSION

FROM SCREENS TO MOVEMENT. FROM STRESS TO BALANCE.

From screens to movement. From stress to balance. From individuals to community.

The mission of KASUMI DOJO, z.s. is to use sport, traditional Japanese martial arts and a supportive community to help children, young people and adults live more active, balanced and meaningful lives. We do not want to be merely a place people visit for a training session. We aim to create an environment where people learn to work on themselves, overcome their own limits, respect others and build healthy habits, confidence and responsibility.

For children, one of today's major challenges is a lack of natural movement and increasing time spent with phones, tablets and computers. We therefore offer real movement, regular activity, new skills, experiences and friendships. Training develops coordination, concentration, discipline and the ability to function within a group. It also teaches that progress is built through patience, repetition and one's own effort.

For teenagers and young adults, we want to provide a safe and meaningful environment that offers an alternative to boredom, resignation and risky behaviour. Sport, shared rules, responsibility and positive role models can contribute to the prevention of excessive alcohol use, drugs and other unhealthy habits. Performance is not our only objective. Belonging to a group, having goals and learning that respect, decency, perseverance and self-control have real value are equally important.

For adults, the dōjō is a place where work and personal pressure can be put aside for a while, allowing full attention to movement and training and helping restore physical and mental balance. Structured practice creates time away from phones, e-mails and everyday pressure. The dōjō should be a place to breathe, improve at one's own pace and leave with the feeling of having done something real and worthwhile.

Personal development is as important to us as technical skill. We encourage goal setting, the ability to accept feedback, work with failure and take responsibility for one's own results. Coaching and experience gained through training can be applied in sport, school, employment, business and interpersonal relationships. People learn to focus their energy on what they can influence: their own preparation, actions and decisions.

Traditional Japanese martial arts are also a way of discovering another culture. We introduce members to Japanese etiquette, history, terminology and values associated with budō. This is not about uncritically imitating Japan, but about understanding context, respecting differences and recognising that different cultures and religious traditions may reach similar values by different paths. We support openness, tolerance and genuine cultural exchange.

KASUMI DOJO is also a community. Children, students, working adults, parents and older members meet here, as do complete beginners and experienced athletes. Shared training creates space for friendship and mutual help. We want beginners to feel comfortable asking questions, experienced members to help naturally, and individual success to motivate others rather than becoming a reason for superiority.

Our mission also includes supporting sport, seminars, domestic and international competitions and representation of the Czech Republic. Results are not an end in themselves; they teach systematic preparation, stress management, fair play and respect for opponents. Educational and cultural events and meetings with teachers and students from other countries are equally important. As a non-profit association, we use the resources generated by our activities to support the dōjō, equipment, instructor education, sporting activity and other work that advances our mission.

Our goal is not to turn every member into a medal winner or a holder of high technical grades. We want everyone who spends time at KASUMI DOJO to take something positive into everyday life: better fitness, discipline, confidence, new friends, the ability to cope with stress or a deeper relationship with Japanese culture. If a person leaves the dōjō stronger, calmer, more responsible and more open towards others, our mission is being fulfilled.
